Light Installations Soul and The Point of Unity will shine St Paul's Cathedral in London |
Londoners, tourists and all interested parties can see the installations during the day from 10:00 to 22:00: during the day you can visit The Point of Unity and after 21:00 with the onset of dusk, both installations will play with the colors of the magic of light on and around St. Paul's Cathedral. St. Paul's Cathedral is a place with a very strong sacred energy in the very heart of London. For over 300 years, it has shaped the silhouette of the city. Nearby is the London City, the Millennium Bridge and one of the most recognizable views of London. The first work - Soul will be presented on the facade of the cathedral itself. The installation symbolizes the birth of an immaterial dream in a person's thoughts, which later becomes embodied and takes on a material form. This work is especially close to artist Mykola Kabluka, because it is based on the study of what happens to the human brain in a state of reverie. He used the data from electroencephalogram studies obtained during this state and based on them formed the geometry of custom glass filters.
The caustic projection in Soul is never repeated. It works as a generative system that creates a new combination of light patterns each time. The unique caustic effect occurs due to the refraction of laser beams through custom glass filters. Their curvilinear geometry, by the way, is also developed based on the relationships established in the study of brain activity. The second work is The Point of Unity which after the grand success at Burning Man 2025 continues its story in the UK. This is a sculpture about a person’s connection with the spiritual, about dreams and the desire to create even in difficult times. Author of the installation Mykola Kabluka likes that it constantly changes depending on the time of day: during the day, the mirror surfaces reflect the sky, clouds and people around and in the evening, the music, light and caustic effects create a completely different perception of the work. The musical composition is based on the astronomical parameters of the Solar System and encoded mathematical algorithms, so every element of the work is connected into a single system. Just remind that Soul installation has been shown for the first time in Lviv, Ukraine as part of the Lviv Urban Forum and The Point of Unity is one of the favourite wedding points during Burning Man 2025. Also base on the Mykola Kabluka's promis after the London Design Festival 2026 the light sculpture The Point of Unity will be place in Kyiv city on a permanent basis as a new tourist attraction of Ukrainian capital.
