New Terminal of Zaporizhzhia Airport open on 19.10.2020 for flights service |
The certificate has been received that allows the new terminal of OZH airport to be put into operation. It took three years since 06.09.2017 from the approvement of construction project of New Passenger Terminal in Zaporizhia International Airport (OZH) till it was built and put into operation. Very good news for all tourists and citizens of Zaporizhzhia who going to use new modern terminal of Zaporizhzhia airport and a bit sad news for aviation enthusiasts as the classic Soviet terminal that was used since 1965 will be closed or transformed in other object of infrastructure. Last and this year the number of aviation attractions in Zaporizhzhia is drop down as Shiroke Airfield started to sell their L-29, PZL-104 Wilga, An-2 aircrafts to pay off debts, number of cargo aircrafts Il-76 in Zaporizhzhia Internationa Airport (OZH) significantly reduced and Soviet classic terminal of the airport went out of service. Anyway Motor Sich Airlines continue its service by classic aircrafts Antonov AN-24 from Kyiv to Zaporizhzhia and still great chance to become the passenger of these special flights. The signing of Open Sky for Ukraine with European Union was postponed until first quarter of 2021 and could be prolonged so till that time Antonov AN-24 is going stay in service if no other decisions made by Motor Sich Airlines depends on air services market situation. Motor Sich Airlines is under high economic pressure since last year by Windrose with ATR-72 (72 passengers seats) that let to make cost per passenger seat lower than Antonov An-24 (48 passenger seats) and Sky Up with aircraft Boeing 737-700 NG (149 passenger seats) that keep low cost strategy on domestic aviation market. Currently on October 2020 Windrose has no scheduled flights Kyiv - Zaporizhzhia in their winter shedule so only Sky Up is in competition for passenger traffic. Return flight tickets Kyiv - Zaporizhzhia by Motor Sich Airlines and classic aircraft Antonov AN-24 is start from 1097 grivna (equivalent of 33 Euro). Unique and only one in passenger service Antonov An-140 is pending for flights from Zaporizhzhia to Minsk. Still there is so called "Motor Sich Lottery" when aircraft Antonov AN-24 is replaced in some reasons by Antonov AN-140, AN-74 (nick name "Cheburashka") or even rear jet Yak-40.
