In 2011 in National Park Synevyr opened Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center on an area of 12 hectares with number of bears of 19 males and females.

Population of brown bears in Ukraine has about 300 bears. Also there are a number of animals held in captivity. In some cases those bears keep in poor conditions and forget their wild instincts. So that is why became an idea of formation of a specialized rehabilitation center for bears in Carpathians.

Purpose of Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center - brown bear individual rehabilitation which have experienced abuse, keeping confiscated animals and bears taken from private owners.

Construct of the rehabilitation center for brown bears decided in National Park Synevyr as the area for landscape and climatic conditions very close to natural environment of their existence.

Implementation in National Park Synevyr the project for brown bear rehabilitation is important not only for protection of animals that have suffered of mental and physical disorders but also contribute reproduction of natural populations, deepening research of main predator of Ukraine and will serve for development of environmental, scientific, ecological educational and recreational works.

Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center located on a plot of 12 hectares of forest. In the upper part was built 6 cells and 2 sections for keeping of groups and single animals of all ages. Here are located pools and dens. The whole area fenced by electric fence.

Workers of rehabilitation centre of brown bears in National Park Synevyr built "special games" for speeding up the adaptation of animals to conditions of their normal life. Also special trainings lets bears quickly get used to the new normal living conditions.
