On 30th of September 2015 in International Airport Kyiv started art-project Art-Plane AN-24 with idea to become the first airport in the world which will be installed and painted the aircraft as an art object.

This will be the first aircraft in the world painted by hand.

Art-Plane AN-24 will be placed in front of International Airport Kyiv (IEV) so it will be visible of airport terminals and streets of Kiev.

Art-Plane AN-24 is unique project to preserve Antonov An-24 making it as art object. The project employs hundreds of people: airport staff, specialists and workers of aviation plant, aviation specialists, airport services, ground services, managers, artists, video-operators, photographers, experts in paint and varnish materials, builders, designers, consultants of aviation industry, volunteers.

The aircraft saved of cutting for scrap metal will paint by hand Georgian designer-monumentalist Avtandil Gurgenidze.

Now Antonov An-24 is already at Aviation Plant 410 washed and prepared for further work. The foundation with racks for installation of the aircraft in front of International Airport Kyiv (IEV) is ready, paints brought, Avtandil Gurgenidze reserved tickets Tbilisi-Kiev.

About Antonov An-24

History of aircraft Antonov An-24 and International Airport Kyiv (IEV) are inseparable. The airport administration decided to save the plane which was supposed to turn into scrap.

It is aircraft Antonov An-24 since the first flight in October 31, 1962 were transported millions of passengers. Antonov An-24 was the main type of aircraft at International Airport Kyiv (IEV).

Art-Plane AN-24 will be the hallmark of International Airport Kyiv (IEV), venue for exhibitions and performances, tourist attraction on the map of Kiev.

About Designer-Monumentalist Avtandil Gurgenidze

Avtandil Gurgenidze is well known Georgian designer-monumentalist. He is known for the design of a metro station in Tbilisi "Nadzaladevi", weather station in Kazbek mountains (3750 meters), many streets and facilities in Georgia and Europe. The painter is used to and like to work with large objects, explore new spaces filled with joy and colors. Bright and unusual colored Art-Plane AN-24 will be noticeable not only on land but also from the air.
