Irpin Memorial Light Installation Road of Life won at Media Architecture Biennale |
|
The memorial installation "Road of Life" on the site of the destroyed Romaniv Bridge in Irpin has turned it into a symbol of healing and rebirth. Red threads of light pulse like stitches on a wound, reminding us: concrete can be broken but willpower - never. Today the installation sounds all over the world and tells about Ukraine. When Mykola Kabluka worked on this project, he thought about how light can be used to say what is difficult to endure in words. How to give a person the opportunity to stop and feel. And, perhaps, to find a little light in themselves to continue living. For the author, this is the main thing - that through such projects we convey to the world not only the pain of Ukrainians, but also our resilience, our truth and our ability to recover. Irpin Memorial Light Installation Road of Life was completed by Expolight team on 24.08.2024 and was included in the National Ukrainian Project of Memory Routes Watch.Lest We Forget.Tell. Romaniv Bridge in Irpin, Ukraine became a symbol of resistance and survival during the 2022 Russian invasion. Blown up by Ukrainian forces on February 25, 2022 it became a lifeline for thousands of residents fleeing from Bucha and Irpin known as the "Road of Life". Guests of Kyiv who plan to visit memorial places in Borodyanka, Hostomel, Bucha and Irpin should plan to stop and look at the Irpin Memorial Light Installation Road of Life and better on their way back after sunset!
