The existing Wooden Church of Holy Cross in Zahiria some sources date back to 1700. The oldest written mention of the church in the village comes of tax registers of 1578. Information about older wooden churches in Zahiria did not preserved.

Wooden Church of Holy Cross restored in 1744 after a fire in altar. The church rebuit in 1817 and during the reconstruction dissolved domes above the altar and the babinets and changed the shape of the top of the nave.

After World War II the church was covered with tin roofs replacing shingle.

Near the church there is two-tiered bell tower with windows in the shape of ovals on the second floor. The bell tower was built in 1817.

In 1946 Wooden Church of Holy Cross was closed and opened for worship in 1989 only.
