On 27th of November 2014 in Uzhgorod was opened Jon Lord Monument on the embankment of Uzh river near Linguistic Gymnasium of Taras Shevchenko in memory of founder member of Deep Purple.

Miniature sculpture of the leader of legendary British hard rock band "Deep Purple" took place to sound of the orchestra who performed the famous hit of the group - "Smoke on the water".

Jon Lord Monument placed facing the river Uzh. To see it tourists and guests of Uzhgorod need a little walk down stairs to Uzh river.

It should be noted that in the openning of the monument participated a lot of fans of rock music. According to initiator of project Pavel Chuchka when idea of the monument appeared - no one around him believe that it may be held.

To start organized collection of coins but soon abandoned this idea preferring quality alloy.

"Hair has always been an important element in this era, glasses, drops, vest, bell-bottoms, shoes with heels and a cigarette in his hand", - said the author of Jon Lord Monument Mikhail Kolodko who among other things is a fan of British rockers "Deep Purple".
