National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishnya - the pottery capital of Ukraine was founded in 1986. This ancient village has been famous as the largest center of pottery and ceramics masters. At the moment National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishnya has the largest collection of art works of masters - ceramists and potters - about 35000 exhibits. All visitors receive a free whistle.

In Ukraine and other countries there are no analogues of National Gallery of Monumental and Landscape Gardening Clay Sculptures - more than 200 exhibits as well as the best exhibition of symbolic panels of ceramists and potters of Ukraine - more than 150 exhibits.

In National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishnya there is an unique specialized library about Ukrainian and world pottery - more than 100000 books.

And the most interesting thing is that everyone can try and feel the plasticity of clay on own hands under the guidance of an experienced master of pottery. The blank is placed on the potter wheel, wetted hands - and here is the first touch to clump of clay which after a certain magic takes on a recognizable shape. But everything is not as simple - one clumsy move and get a bagel instead of plate.

National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishnya organizes national workshops of potters, workshops of ceramics, potters international festivals and national competitions of pottery art, national and international conferences on pottery.

Since 2010 National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery hold Annual International Festival of Pottery and Ceramics "ZDVIG" which come professionals of pottery and ceramics for the exchange of experience as well as to take part in a competition for the best work of art in the field of pottery, ceramics and body art. Also during the festival "ZDVIG" is doing a great fair where tourists and visitors could buy art works - ceramics, ceramic sculpture and tableware made of natural clay.
