Since November 2013 Steel Plant ArcelorMittal officially opened an group industrial tour for tourists and visitors of Kryvyi Rih to become familiar with all stages of production of steel which includes a visit to the blast furnace №9, metal casting plant and Kryvorizhstal Museum. Kryvorizhstal is the name of one of the largest metallurgical plants in Soviet Union (USSR) which in 2005 became private property with the name of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih. Steel Plant ArcelorMittal Tour Program - Meeting tourists group at Kryvyi Rih railway station Industrial tour Steel Plant ArcelorMittal Tour is possible for a minimum of 10 tourists History of Kryvorizhstal Steel and Metallurgical Plant On 1st of June 1931 Council of Labor and Defense ordered Supreme Economic Council to start immediately the construction of Kryvyi Rih Metallurgical and Steel Plant. On 16th of June 1931 Supreme Economic Council and its chairman Grigory Ordzhonikidze signed the order in which the board of association "Steel" pledged to immediately begin construction of Kryvorizhstal Steel and Metallurgical Plant with four conventional blast furnaces of 930 cubic meters for processing of cast iron to steel rolling. On 4th of August 1934 started its work the first blast furnace №1. After just four months blast furnace №1 gave a record amount of cast iron - 337 tonnes instead of planned 220 tonnes. The first blast furnace was given the name "Komsomolka". Before Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 introduced three blast furnaces. At the beginning of World War II all equipment of Kryvorizhstal Steel and Metallurgical Plant had been evacuated to Urals (Nizhny Tagil). During the Nazi occupation of Kryvyi Rih Kryvorizhstal Steel and Metallurgical Plant was destroyed. After World War II during the period from 1949 to 1974 have been created eight blast furnaces and in 1974 launched the most powerful at the time in the world - blast furnace №9 with a useful volume of 5000 cubic meters. In the period from 1934 to 1982 at Kryvorizhstal Steel and Metallurgical Plant was smelted more than 200 million tons of steel. Steel Plant ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Since 2005 Kryvorizhstal Steel and Metallurgical Plant becomes the property of the corporation Mittal Steel Kryvyi Rih which after the merger with Arcelor company became ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih. ArcelorMittal Corporation holds a leading position among the largest companies in the mining and metallurgical complex of Ukraine and is part of an international corporation ArcelorMittal - number one steel producer in the world. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is a a full-cycle company which includes coke production, mining and production of cast iron and steel production which included operating blast furnace, steelmaking and rolling departments. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is one of the largest producers of rolled steel in Ukraine specializing in rebar and wire rod of conventional and low-alloy steels also produces sinter concentrate, coke, cast iron, steel, shapes and sections. The activity of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih covers the production chain from iron ore mining to production of finished steel products. In 2012 ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih company produced 4,9 million tons of cast iron, 5,7 million tons of steel and 4,9 million tons of rolled steel.
