In 1971 during the Soviet Era in Kharkiv was built Kharkiv Cable Car to provide for workers of Kharkiv Aviation Production Enterprise and Kharkiv Machine-building Factory "FED" quick and easy access to the workplace from Pavlovo Pole region. At the same time for the workers of the enterprises were sold discounted monthly tickets to the cableway.

Development and construction of Kharkiv Cable Car produced by Kharkov Design Institute "Prommekhanizatsia" (branch of LLC "Soyuzprommehanizatsiya"). Type of the cableway - ring type.

Travel time of each way is 18 minutes and Kharkiv Cable Car length is 1385 meters. At nearly 3 000 meters of Kharkiv Cable Car is used 124 open cable cars each is designed to weigh no more than 160 kilograms (2 people). The cable car at number №1 is used for service and maintenance purposes.

During the trip the level of passenger's view of Kharkiv Cable Car varies from 8 to 26 meters above ground level. In some areas the cable car passengers passing over the tops of pine trees, on a new asphalt road and in the low part of Kharkiv Cable Car - over the swamp of Sarzhin ravine.

After a complete renovation in 2012 Kharkiv Cable Car is open for residents, tourists and guests of Kharkiv. Ride on the cable car will give visitors a sense of romance, beautiful panoramic views of Kharkiv and the impression of flying over the tops of the tree of Gorky Park.
