On 17th of November 2014 in Lutsk was presented First electric bus on base of Bogdan A091 by Sunrise LTD. The first Ukrainian electric bus-prototype converted to electric traction from standard diesel bus Bogdan A091.

After removing of disel engine and fuel tank constructors led by Vyacheslav Poltavtsev put two electric motors of 60 kW each (together -120 kW) and installed batteries.

To fully charge batteries it is needed 4 hours. Charge of the batteries is from power outlet with voltage of 380 volts. After charging electric bus can drive about 250-300 km on a single charge on base speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

Experimental electric bus painted in green ecological color. It still will not carry passengers because starting only its tests.

If bus producers or investors will interest in this new electric bus they will get big savings on fuel. For example, expensive diesel fuel in Ukraine is about 17,5 UAH/ liter and the cheap electricity is 0,5 UAH/kWh only.

Most importantly the creation of such electric bus is a step towards environmentally friendly transport which does not produce any harmful emissions.
