On 23rd of February 2015 mobile operators - "Astelit" (TM Life :)), "MTS-Ukraine" and "Kyivstar" received a license to create 3G networks in Ukraine.

Tender bids for licenses held by National Commission which regulates of Communications and Informatization (NCCI).

The first lot purchased by "Astelit" (TM Life :)) paying 3 billion 355.4 million UAH with a starting price of 2.708 billion UAH.

The second lot acquired "MTS-Ukraine" by starting price of auction - 2.715 billion UAH.

The third lot is automatically reached the final participant - "Kyivstar" - 2.705 billion UAH.

All licenses will be issued for a period of 15 years. Formally purchase licenses will end when the company would transfer money in the treasury.

After obtaining licenses for 18 months mobile operators will be required to provide new technology to all Ukrainian regional centers and within 2-6 years - district centers and cities with a population of less than 10 000 citizens.

In addition for exemption of military users operators will have to pay the conversion value of 1.6 billion UAH.

The first phase of the conversion will be 23 months, the second - 18 months and third - 17 months.

At the auction was put up license to use radio frequency resource of Ukraine to introduce radio technology "Digital cellular radio IMT-2000 (UMTS)" in the bands:

- 1920-1935 / 2110-2125 MHz
- 1950-1965 / 2140-2155 MHz
- 1965-1980 / 2155-2170 MHz

To date the only owner of 3G-operator license is "Trimob" of "Ukrtelecom" got it in late 2011.
