South Mining and Processing Plant (UGOK) - one of the major producers of iron ore in Ukraine. Open Mine Quarry UGOK is the second largest in Ukraine with depth of 404 meters, length - 3000 meters, width - 2500 meters, number of horizons - 25 and total length of roads in the career - 37 km.

Enterprise South Mining and Processing Plant (UGOK) built in 1952-55 of the last century for the extraction and enrichment of ferrous magnetite quartzite to produce iron ore concentrate and blast agglomerate.

Manufacture of iron ore mining is 22,5 million tons per year with a gradual build-up of annual volumes in order to reach the production capacity of iron ore by 2020 - 30 million tons per year.

Open Mine Quarry UGOK Equipment

Excavation and loading equipment represented in the career by excavators EKG-10 and Hitachi. More than 60% of excavators working in a career of more than 25-30 years.

Open Mine Quarry UGOK at the original design envisaged maximum implementation of electrified train railways on the lower horizons. On this basis the quarry has a rounded shape which is a reason to use train transportation as the main transport for shipping ore (turning radius of railways - 250 meters, car - 45 meters). Nowadays the transport system involves multiple combinations with railway, road and conveyor transport.

Train railways are on the most lower horizons - it can not be found in any other career of Kryvyi Rih.

Total car park of mining and transportation department consists of 17 dump trucks BelAZ 7513 in particular four with lifting capacity of 130 tons, seven of 120 tons carrying capacity and six with carrying capacity of 25-45 tons of BelAZ 7540 and 7547. For delivery of equipment and other works it is used dump trucks KrAZ-65055.

Open Mine Quarry UGOK uses cyclic-flow technology of extraction of iron ore using trains - dump trucks - conveyors transport. There are crushing and transfer points used for pre-crushing of iron ore and and transport rock mass on the conveyor. Tthree career crushing and transfer points on the horizon -75, -90 and -210 meters.

Open Mine Quarry UGOK has three viewpoints for tourists to look the panoramic views and make unique pictures. To gain access to viewpoint tourist must obtain a special permit.
