On 26th of September 2015 in Konotop, Sumy region was erected Kazimir Malevich Monument in honor of 100 years anniversary of creating world famous Black Square painting.

Kazimir Malevich Monument in full growth is situated in Konotop near Cafe "Malevich".

Konotop was in the city where Kazimir Malevich lived with his family in 1894-1895 years. Here Kazimir Malevich created and sold his first painting "Moonlight" and "Buslik" for five rubles each.

The author of the monument is sculptor Yuri Medved who has created many art works and sculptures in Konotop and other cities of Ukraine.

Black Square Painting

Black Square - the most famous work of Kazimir Malevich created in 1915 - one of the most famous paintings in Russian art.

Black Square is a series of suprematist works of Kasimir Malevich in which the artist explored the basic features of color and composition. Black Square is the part of a triptych which included Black Circle and Black Cross.
