Tourism in Ukraine Returns to the Care of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine |
The corresponding decision was approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No.1003. Until now, since 2021, the State Agency for Tourism Development (SATD) has been subordinate to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine through the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, and since its creation in 2019, the SATD has been subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. The integration of tourism into the humanitarian block strengthens its role in Ukraine's recovery - as a tool for community development, supporting people and local businesses, strengthening Ukraine's national identity and international presence. “Despite all the challenges, Ukraine has enormous opportunities for tourism development. Traveling around our country, people discover its culture, history, cities, nature and people. Tourism can become one of the important tools for the recovery of regions, the development of communities and local entrepreneurship. Together with the State Agency for Tourism Development (SATD), we will form a systemic state policy that will help develop tourism products, infrastructure and strengthen international interest in Ukraine,” said Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Humanitarian Policy of Ukraine - Minister of Culture of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna. “The integration of the tourism sector into the humanitarian block is a logical step, because the spheres of culture and tourism work with the main resource of the state - people. The constant priority of state policy in the field of tourism remains the creation of a competitive, transparent, safe, digitalized and sustainable tourism ecosystem of Ukraine, integrated into the European space, which will provide affordable tourism opportunities for citizens of Ukraine and foreigners. Tourism today is a tool for mental and physical recovery. It is precisely at its implementation that the further work of the State Agency for Tourism Development (SATD) in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and other authorities will be aimed,” noted Natalya Tabaka, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development. Among the key areas of work of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in the field of tourism: - accounting, rational use and protection of tourism resources of Ukraine Historical Changes in the Ukraine Tourism Governmental Structures November 1992: The Cabinet of Ministers established the State Committee of Ukraine for Tourism. 1993-2000: The State Committee of Ukraine for Tourism expanded its activities in licensing and inventorying tourist facilities. The basic Law of Ukraine "On Tourism" was adopted (1995). 2001-2005: The State Committee of Ukraine for Tourism was reorganized, coming under the wing of various departments (in particular, the State Tourism Administration of Ukraine). 2006-2010: Management functions were transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine. 2011-2014: Changed to the State Agency of Ukraine for Tourism and Resorts. 2016-2019: the State Agency of Ukraine for Tourism and Resorts transferred to the level of a special Department within the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. 2019-2021: The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine was established and subordinated to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. 2021-2026: The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine was subordinated to the Cabinet of Ministers through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure August 2026: The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine will be subordinated to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. Despite the more than 34-year period of the history of tourism development in Ukraine, the main problem remains the factor of its financing according to the final principle, without understanding the importance of the Ukraine tourism promotion on the international arena as an investment component in the development of the country.
