After around 15.04.2026 on route Kyiv - Uzhhorod will start operation Sakura Train with cherry blossoms flowers thematic decoration of railway cars, special design of route signs and information materials about the Ukrainian - Japanese partnership.

Ukrainian Uzhhorod is a city of sakura which has a special cultural connection with Japan. Every spring hundreds of cherry trees bloom on the streets of Uzhhorod attracting tourists from all over Ukraine and abroad.

Svobody Avenue is the location to visit and enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms blooming. That is why the route to Uzhhorod is considered symbolic for creating a branded “friendship train” between Japan and Ukraine.

The Sakura Train will be created on base of regular train 81/82 Desna which departs from Kyiv at 17:41 and arrives in Uzhhorod at 10:20. On the return way Sakura Train departs from Uzhhorod at 16:20 and arrives in Kyiv at 09:58.

The peak of cherry blossoms in Uzhgorod usually falls in the second half of April - approximately from the 15th to the 25th when the largest number of trees bloom.

Tickets for Sakura Train Kyiv - Uzhhorod will be available in the Ukrainian Railways app (Google Play and App Store) and on the website of Ukrainian Railways!
