National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine celebrated 50 Year Anniversary |
|
Half a century ago in 1976 the museum began its history as a space designed to preserve the architectural, cultural and spiritual heritage of Ukraine. Today it is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe which not only preserves the past but also helps contemporaries better understand their own roots. The anniversary celebrations brought together representatives of state authorities, clergy, the diplomatic corps, the museum community, scientists, cultural figures, partners and friends of the museum. This day became an opportunity to remember those who created the open-air museum, to thank those who develop it today, and to outline future prospects. During the celebrations, state, departmental and museum awards were presented to the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine employees. Fifty years is not so much on a generational scale but behind these years is the enormous work of many people. It is especially symbolic that the children and grandchildren of its creators now work in the museum. The administration of the museum sincerely thanks the host of the event, Roman Kolyada, the Orchestra of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine for the solemn performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine and the Folklore Ensemble "Gromytsia". 50 years is not only a respectable anniversary - these are thousands of preserved monuments, millions of steps along museum trails, the invaluable work of several generations of museum workers and a great love for Ukrainian heritage. We thank everyone who has been and is close to the Pykohiv Museum during these years. Welcome to visit the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine in Kyiv!
