Chernobyl 40 Years Later Exhibition will be held on 25.04 - 26.04.2026 in Kyiv |

The exhibition immerses visitors in three dimensions of time where through artifacts, light and senses the main question arises: how does the past shape our future? Three spaces - three states of light, three questions that humanity has never stopped asking itself: - "The Light That Has Not Gone Out" (Past). A space of memory built around the image of the stained glass window of the Pripyat cafe which still transmits light through colored glass today. This is the story of the satellite city of the Chernobyl NPP, which lived, laughed, made plans and raised children. And at the same time, a reminder of the moment when everything ended, leaving behind the shadows of lost lives. - “The Light That Works” (Present). The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone today is not a set from a horror movie. It is a place of intense intellectual and high-tech work where hundreds of specialists ensure nuclear safety for all of Europe every day. The New Safe Confinement is one of the most ambitious engineering structures of the 21st century, built with the support of the European Union and 45 donor countries. You will learn how it was built and what functions the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management performs, what the Chernobyl NPP is currently experiencing and how Ukraine is confronting the modern challenges of nuclear terrorism. - "Light of the Future" (Future). This is the most important space of the exhibition because the future is the only thing that can be changed. Rebirth through concrete and steel. A space where nature returns its own and man forms new approaches to nuclear safety and responsibility to future generations. From renewable energy sources to small modular reactors, modern robotics, radioactive waste management strategies - all these technologies shape the energy space for future generations and determine a safe future. Admission is free and the main exhibition venue is the Toronto-Kyiv Complex (entrance from 81 Antonovycha St., Tower C) in Kyiv, Ukraine. The exhibition is organized by the State Agency of Ukraine for Exclusion Zone Management and is financed by the European Union. With the support of strategic partners of the Toronto-Kyiv Complex, the Norwegian radiation authority Direktoratet for strålevern og atomsikkerhet and the engineering company Energy Safety Group, expert and communication partners NGO Ukrainian Nuclear Society and GS Energy Safety Institute. The European Union remains a key partner on this path. Support programs, financing the development of the latest technological facilities - all these are concrete steps from tragedy to a responsible future that is being built together. April 26, 1986 - the moment when humanity learned a lesson about the limits of its own power over nature, about the price of silence and that security is not a personal matter of one country. The Chernobyl accident became a lesson in the history of mankind - a lesson of responsibility, which we continue to learn today. A history that obliges us to remember that the greatest value in the world is life, the preservation of which is possible only where there is knowledge, compliance with safety rules and responsibility.
