Kyiv Boryspil International Airport Modernization Starts in 2026 |
|
The project is aimed to increase the level of safety, operational stability and passenger service efficiency in accordance with international standards. The main goal of the two-week mission was to complete the preparation of key design and technical documents necessary for the transition to the next phase - competitive selection of solutions and suppliers. As part of the work the parties agreed on an implementation roadmap, conducted a preliminary market assessment, formed technical requirements for IT and operating systems and also worked out the issues of procurement, equipment supply, its service support and further operation in Ukrainian conditions. The project involves the modernization of key operational and IT systems of the airport, in particular, the implementation of solutions for Passenger Self-Service (Common Use Self Service), Self-Baggage Drop (Self Bag Drop) as well as the development of digital infrastructure necessary for the safe and scalable operation of the airport in the future. Special attention during the mission was paid to the adaptation of international technical solutions to the realities of the Ukrainian market - public procurement procedures, supply logistics, availability of service competencies and long-term support of systems. The prerequisite for cooperation was a tripartite agreement between the Kyiv Boryspil International Airport, the Ministry of Community and Territories Development of Ukraine and KOICA which defines the scope and directions of joint projects aimed at improving safety standards and quality of passenger service at the country's largest airport. The next stage in 2026 will be the finalization of technical documentation and the launch of procurement procedures for the practical implementation of the project. KOICA is the government agency of the Republic of Korea for official development assistance which implements international projects in the areas of infrastructure, digitalization, economic and social development, and humanitarian support. Welcome to Kyiv Boryspil International Airport (KBP, UKBB) when the Ukrainian sky will be opened!
