Ukraine State Aviation Service restores DS-10 Certification for Helicopters Mi-8MTV |
|
Update! Ukraine partly replace Helicopters Mil Mi-24 and Mi-8 with Bell AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom The need to update DS-10 Document is because the national procedures for the support and certification of helicopters Mi-8MTV were organized according to SAS procedure as limited airworthiness certificates provided for authorized helicopters involved in international missions. SAS (Specific Airworthiness Specifications) is a tool that is used in international practice for aircraft that no longer have full support (those that operate until complete wear and tear or during a clearly defined transition period before termination of operation) but are temporarily allowed for limited operation under special safety requirements. In the case of Ukrainian helicopters Mi-8MTV involved in international missions the use of SAS categorically did not correspond to their real status. Specific Airworthiness Specifications (SAS) also does not meet ICAO requirements, is unacceptable for operations in UN missions and this creates risks for the further participation of Ukrainian aviation companies in international peacekeeping and humanitarian operations and also undermines the international image of Ukraine as a reliable aviation state with a full cycle of aircraft production and maintenance. In order to restore the trust of partners, ensure the continuity of the work of Ukrainian aviation operators and guarantee the compliance of Ukrainian certificates with ICAO requirements and international aviation practice, State Aviation Service of Ukraine initiated the official restoration and updating of DS-10 Document including the definition of clear procedures for the maintenance and certification of Soviet-type aircraft and the preparation of regulatory changes necessary to synchronize national procedures with ICAO requirements. Currently Ukrainian helicopter companies that operate helicopters Mi-8T, Mi-8MTV, Mi-8MSB-T, Мi-8MTV-1, Mi-17, Mi-171, Міl-17-1V and organize modernization and maintenance: - Ukrainian Helicopters - around 19 helicopters Organizers
