On 25.12.2025 in Kyiv will be held Kyiv Christmas Procession with Stars and carols performed by Kyiv folklore groups and the Christmas ringing of bells on the main bell towers of the Ukrainian capital.

On this day Kyiv citizens will support the tradition of Ukrainian Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Kyiv Christmas Procession with Stars Program

12:00 - Gathering on Mykhailivska Square
12:00 - 13:15 - caroling with the participation of folklore groups
13:15 - 13:30 - joint photo of the star keepers near the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery
13:30 - formation of the procession column
13:30 - 15:00 - Christmas procession through the main streets of Kyiv along the route: Mykhailivska Square - Sophia Square - Golden Gate - Volodymyrska St. - Opera House - Bohdan Khmelnytsky St. - Khreshchatyk St. - Independence Square

Anyone can join the procession: families with children, folklore groups, choirs and artists.

Kyiv Christmas Procession with Stars will be accompanied by carols performed by Kyiv folklore groups "ShchukaRyba" and "Stodyvnytsia" and the Christmas bell rings on the main bell towers of the capital.

On Sophia Square hundreds of voices will sing "A New Joy".

This event was sparked by Lviv and first took place in Kyiv in 2014. The ancient tradition of walking carolers and Nativity scenes with stars has been known in Ukraine since the XVIIth century. The Christmas star represents the Star of Bethlehem which announced the birth of God symbolizing the victory of light over darkness.
