On 22.08.2021 in Ivano-Frankivsk will open new tourist attraction - Steam Locomotive 9P-470 Monument which is 0-3-0 locomotive type and was made in 1949 at Murom Steam Locomotive Plant.

The event of Steam Locomotive 9P-470 Monument opening in front of Ivano-Frankivsk Railway Station will be held at 13:30.

Steam Locomotive 9P-470 was transfered from JSC "Ivano-Frankivsk Locomotive Repair Plant" where it was installed in 1981 in honor of the 115th anniversary of the founding of the plant.

The installation of Steam Locomotive 9P-470 Monument is dedicated to 30th Anniversary of Independence of Ukraine.

About Steam Locomotive 9P-470

Steam locomotive 9P is a type 0-3-0 tank-steam locomotive produced in Soviet Union from 1935 to 1957.

The locomotive were used in shunting works by Soviet railways as well as by many enterprises for a variety of purposes.

Steam locomotive 9P was designed in 1934 - 1935 by Lokomotivproekt.

9P steam locomotive was build:

- Kolomna Machine-Building Plant: 213 steam locomotives
- Novocherkassk Steam Locomotive Plant: 80 steam locomotives
- Murom Steam Locomotive Plant: 2736 steam locomotives

Total: 3029 steam locomotives
