On 27.02.2020 in Gostomel Airport (UKKM) and Antonov State Plant take place celebration of AN-22 Antei 55 Years Anniversary since the maiden flight with water salute and crew congratulations from Antonov Airlines, spotters and aviation enthusiasts.

The first part of the event is in Goslomel Airport with taxiing of AN-22 Antei through Water Salute and crew congratulations and the second part is meeting of veterans in People's Museum Antonov State Plant with historical movies about AN-22 Antei and speeches of veterans about history of AN-22 Antei design, production and key persons.

During crew congratulations there was speeches about AN-22 Antei of captain Victor Goncharov, director of Antonov Airlines Mikhail Kharchenko, senior maintenance engineer Nikolai Shein and story of AN-22 Antei landing in Speyer, Germany from captain Victor Goncharov.

About AN-22 Antei

On 27th of February 1965 AN-22 Antei - the first widebody transport aircraft in the world performed its maiden flight. AN-22 Antei maiden flight was performed by the crew of: captain Yurii Kurlin, co-pilot Volodymyr Terskiy, navigator Petro Koshkin, flight engineer Volodymyr Vorotnikov, flight electrician Michael Rachenko, radio operator Mykola Drobyshev and chief test engineer Viktor Shatalov, engineer Oleksandr Eskin.

AN-22 Antei unique characteristics: payload up to 80 ton, take-off weight of 225 ton, fuselage diameter - 6 meters, the world biggest propellers with diameter of 6,2 meters.

In 1965 this aircraft was displayed at Le Bourget Air Show. This presentation caused a world sensation. AN-22 set 41 world records. Creation of this aircraft became an important event for the global aviation history.
