On 14th of January 2019 in Vashkivtsi, Chernivtsi region will take place unique folk music and costume carnival Malanka Festival with parade of participants driving specially decorated vehicles.

Malanka Festival procession will start on 14th of January 2014 from center of Vashkivtsi village and be completed with traditional bathing in Prut river.

All inhabitants of Vashkivtsi village dress up in traditional costumes of Malanka - "grandfather", "grandmother", "gypsy", "bukshandor", "winged bear"; "goat", "soldier" as well as costumes of politics, stars of show business and others unusual modern characters.

Usually Malanka Festival moves on 15th of January to center of Chernivtsi for Malanka Festival Pageant but this year 2019 because of insufficient funding for the festival from Chernivtsi budget - Chernivtsi Malanka Festival 2019 will not take place. Organizers take time for Chernivtsi Malanka 2020.
