After 17th of October 2019 SkyUp Airlines start domestic flights Kyiv - Kharkiv (25.10.2019), Kyiv - Zaporizhzhya (28.10.2019) and Lviv - Kharkiv (17.10.2019) with lowcost tickets of 35 - 45 Euro.

New routes of SkyUp Airlines will create large competition in Ukraine between SkyUp Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines and Motor Sich Airlines.

The most sensitive for these new changes is Motor Sich Airlines that operates classic aircrafts like An-24, An-140 and Yak-40.

As a result An-24 and An-140 with 48 - 52 seats could not compete the seat price of Boeing 737 with 149 - 189 seats of SkyUp Airlines. Ukraine International Airlines as well operates on similar routes so it is expected passenger traffic reduction that leads to needs of changes in strategy of Motor Sich Airlines:

- deal with Antonov Enterprise for leasing of aircrafts Antonov An-158 with 99 seats
- create new modification of An-24 with modern TV3-117VMA-SBM1V engines certificated in EU
- transform Motor Sich Airlines concept into air freight cargo transportation airlines and left passenger flights only on the most economically reasonable routes as well as seasonal charter flights
- take the concept of Boeing and Airbus aircrafts on domestic flight routes

It is sad news for all special flight enthusiasts as Motor Sich Airlines fleet from Soviet Union time could be changed, limited or not avialable for the passenger flights till the end of 2019 because of flight market pressure.

Also news that Ukraine and European Union could sign Common Aviation Area Agreement by the end of 2019 once United Kingdom leaves the EU in October 31, 2019 aircrafts like An-24 will be automatically decommissioned. To meet European standards it is needed to replace Ivchenko AI-24 engine with new TV3-117VMA-SBM1V engine produced by Motor Sich JSC and create new modification of An-24 that should be also certificated by Antonov Enterprise.

The new flight routes will make influence on Ukrainian railways passenger traffic too as cost of one way flight of SkyUp airlines is almost equal to the cost of the second class seat of high speed trains Intercity +, Intercity and domestic flights will be in demand, for example, on the route Kyiv - Kharkiv the flight saves almost 4 hours compare to the hight speed train.
