On 7th of January 2019 in Kryvorivnya, Ivano-Frankivsk region will take place Kryvorivnya Hutsul Caroling - traditional Hutsul caroling with hatchets and violin, trembita music around Church of Nativity of Blessed Virgin.

The event starts at 11:00 and it will be interesting for all tourists who like to look, hear and touch Hutsul traditions which passed down from generation to generation.

About Kryvorivnya Hutsul Caroling

When the God's service in Church of Nativity of Blessed Virgin is finished - one by one from the church comes out men and lined up in a row. Ahead of each wassailer team stands the leader. Leaders sing the song and it pick up by other members of the team. Solemn procession around the church goes counterclock-wise.

Men rhythmically throw up hatchets and dance. Each of their movements accompanies sound of bells. Hutsul Caroling is combination of violin music, voices, sound of bells, trembita piping accompanied by dance moves of men.

Wassailers walk around the church seven times then return to the doors where the priest blesses wassailers - for good work and villager - for happy holidays.
