Hall of Mirrors of Vyshnivets Palace opened after restoration |
Honore de Balzac who visited Vyshnivets in 1848 called the palace and the park as Small Palace of Versailles. Vyshnivets Palace became a part of National Reserve "Castles of Ternopil" and the concept of development of which included restoration of Hall of Mirrors in its original form. Since 2015 the reserve has received financial support from Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in amount of more than 4 million UAH. It also won a grant from US Embassy in Ukraine amounting to 159 000 USD for restoration of Hall of Mirrors and the southern retaining wall of the palace. Hall of Mirrors of Vyshnivets Palace History In 1730 Michal Zbaraski Wisniowiecki built a palace in the style of Late Baroque and Classicism with English-style park. With the death of the last man in Vyshnevetsky genus the palace was given by female line to Mniszech family. Three generations of Mniszech family - Jan Karol Chodkiewicz (1716 - 1759), Michal Jerzy Poniatowski (1748 - 1806) and Karol Filip Wandalin-Mniszech (1794-1846 gave Vyshnivets Palace royal splendor: paintings, sculptures, antique furniture, Dutch tiles, books, weapons and crockery. During First World War the palace was damaged. Renovated in 1920 by famous Kiev architect Wladyslaw Horodecki. In the spring of 1944 during fighting of Second World War the palace was severely damaged and next restored in 1950 outside only. Original appearance of internal decoration of Hall of Mirrors and other rooms of the palace was not restored. So now tourists and guests of Ternopil region could visit restored Hall of Mirrors of Vyshnivets Palace and enjoy the history of that unique sight and attraction of Ukraine.
