MFA Open Air Performance | On 21th of June 2018 in Kiev |
MFA Open Air start at 19:30 by address: 1, Mykhailivska square, Kyiv, Ukraine and finish at 21:30. Approximate duration of the event is 1.5 hours. Edigna's life in the special performance will present poet and author Oleksandr Irvanets, theater director Fedor Balandin and director of the play Fedor Balandin. This performance is dedicated to Edigna - daughter of French Queen Anna of Kiev (Anna Yaroslavna) and Henry I of France. In 1074 nineteen-year old Edigna escaped from the royal palace in France and try to reach to Kievan Rus - the kingdom of her mother Anna Yaroslavna. On her way Edigna had a dream to remain forever in the place when riding by cart she will hear a call of a rooster at the same time as the sound of bell. A rooster called as she was passing by a church and then ringing began to sound. So Edigna did not reach Kievan Rus and remained in Puch, Bavaria settling in the large hollow of a linden tree. She lived there until February 1109 praying and fulfilling God’s work. Edigna treated patients with herbs, gave strength to the elderly and consoled people. A lot time Edigna devoted to children teaching them to read and write. Her mercy and devotion to people warmed the souls of the grateful Bavarians. During the life of Edigna near her linden tree built a church in which she was later buried. Her royal origin she did not reveal to anyone and only after her death was it discovered.
