On 25th of May 2018 in Ukraine will open Beskidy Tunnel - new railroad tunnel in Carpathian mountains for transit cargo and passenger trains.

Dimensions of Beskidy Tunnel: length - 1764.5 meters, width - 10.5 meters and height - 8.5 meters.

In 2007 began design and survey works, exploration of relief and geodetic works. The work on construction of the tunnel was started in 2013.

The capacity of the new tunnel in comparison with a single-track tunnel will increase from 47 to 100 pairs of trains per day. Also the speed of trains will increase from 40 km/h to 60 km/h.

The project of Beskidy Tunnel is financed by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
