On 21th of March 2017 in Ternopil was held the first Ternopil Castle Dungeon Tour which participated more than 500 tourists who are interest in Ternopil history.

The participants of the tour were met near Ternopil Information Center by founder of Ternopil Jan Amor Tarnowski - dressed in historical clothing Ternopil guide Sasha Zakharchenko.

Tourist groups of 20-30 tourists descended into Ternopil Castle Dungeon. In one of dungeon rooms are loopholes that are unusually below the level of the ground. Exit of the dungeon is located under modern fountain "Gronskiy Tears".

During Ternopil Castle Dungeon Tour participants met by knights and watched the videos of Ternopil history broadcasted on the wall of the dungeon.

Tourists were left delighted by what they saw because no one could imagine that the dungeon has so spacious rooms and extraordinary stories telling Ternopil secrets of the ancient city.

About Ternopil Castle

Ternopil Castle is a stronghold which gave birth to the city of Ternopil. It was built in 16th century to protect the southern border of Kingdom of Poland and Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

The castle originated as the residence of Polish nobleman Jan Amor Tarnowski in 1540. Construction works took place during 1540 - 1548 years on the bank of Seret River and were authorized by King Sigismund the Old.
