On 31th of August 2017 in Antonov Plant in Kiev will cebebrate 70 Anniversary of the first flight of aircraft Antonov An-2 - legendary biplane that already produced more than 70 years.

Oleh Antonov - chief designer of Aviation Design Bureau "Antonov" has always affirmed that Antonov An-2 is his greatest success. All these years it remains as top aircraft in its class because of many unique characteristics.

Numerous variants of Antonov An-2 performed a variety of tasks - widely used in agriculture, for exploration works, transportation of passengers and different loads up to 1500 kg. These airplanes were training thousands of pilots and parachutists.

Concept of multi-purpose airplane has been implemented in Antonov An-2 so successful that it solved a lot of problems in different branches of economy.

For this tireless and unassuming "Working Corncob" waiting in various parts of the world even in the most remote locations which can not be reached by any other airplane.

Another record of the world's largest biplane is his long-term production. Over the years it was built more than 17 000 copies of Antonov An-2 and its modifications.

"Corncob" earned great respect in the world and during year 2007 Aviation Plant "Antonov" plans to hold a series of events dedicated to his birthday.
