On 9th of August 2017 from Gostomel Airport departure Antonov An-2-100 (UR-EXB) with goal to set new world speed record in its class of aircrafts.

Two test pilots Sergey Tarasyuk and Valeriy Epachintsev by aircraft Antonov An-2-100 going to fly the route Gostomel Airport (GML) - Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport (LWO) - Airport Mielec - Havryshivka Vinnytsia International Airport (VIN) - Zaporizhia International Airport (OZH) - Gostomel Airport (GML).

That is second record after first one that was set in May, 2017 by aircraft Antonov An-2 which lifted a record cargo for its class of mass at 3202 kg to a height of 2700 meters. By the way the maximum commercial load of Antonov An-2-100 is 1500 kg only.

On August 31, 2017 the world's aviation community will celebrate 70th anniversary of the first flight of An-2 biplane which became the ancestor of a large family of Antonov aircraft. An-2 is still the world's largest single-engine biplane.
